“Hello’s and Goodbye’s”

Hi everyone! How was your week so far? =)

To be honest, my most favorite season of journal writing was when I was living abroad. Somehow being homesick and living in a strange new place made me more ‘prayerful’. Haha. I want to share a series of blogs from that period of my life. Praying you’ll be blessed!

Life is always a series of hello’s and goodbye’s.
I look around me and see the people I’ve grown to love.
I’m leaving home to go to another country to study another language.
I don’t know when or if God will call me back home.

They will miss me, they said.
“You’re leaving us,” the teasingly told me.

“I’m not leaving,” I lightly replied. “It’s all a matter of perspective.”

“No matter how you turn the subject upside down, it’s still leaving,” they bantered back.

Leaving?

Am I leaving?

I chew on their words and in my heart, I turn to You.

“Am I leaving Lord?”

And I pause as I wonder what Your response will be.

And then I felt You say,

“You’re moving on a different direction.
“Life is a series of hello’s and goodbye’s.

“It is like a bus ride. Different people come and go as you journey. So while you have some moments together, savor them.

“You see, My Little One…how can you grow if you always stay in one place with the same people and the same circumstances?

“And how will people know about Me if you always spend time with those who already love Me or have heard about Me?”

Lord?

“Yes, Alysia?”

Where are You bringing me?

“Alysia… I’m bringing you closer to ME.
ARE YOU WILLING TO FOLLOW WHERE I WILL LEAD YOU?”

…I don’t know, Lord.

I realize words come so easily.

But…
I don’t own my life.
